Hello, all-
The Friends of HPL have recently changed their approach to their book sales. Instead of hosting one large annual book sale, they will now hold multiple community sales throughout the year.
The first community sale is scheduled for Thursday, January 23rd through Saturday, January 25th. All locations should have received the promotional push card over the past week or so.
We would like you to help us get the word out about the sale. Between now and January 25th, we need you to:
· Provide a push card to each customer at checkout
· Mention the sale to customers at checkout, or in other interactions, using the following talking points:
o I want to make you aware of the Winter Book Sale hosted by the Friends of the Houston Public Library.
o The Friends is a non-profit organization that supports HPL.
o Most of their support comes from funds raised through their book sales.
o They will have over 20,000 books available – most for just $1 or $2.
o You can find more information at their website (listed on the bottom of the card).
The Friends are a critical partner to HPL. Their hard work has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for HPL over the years. Last year alone, the Friends provided $137,000 to HPL – funds used provide scholarship opportunities for HPL staff, funding for conference attendance and training, and more.
